Mr. Michael Woodlock Appointed Principal at GDRHS

The Groton-Dunstable Regional School District is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Michael Woodlock as the new principal of the Groton-Dunstable Regional High School.

Mr. Woodlock comes to Groton-Dunstable from a successful career at Tyngsborough High School where he has worked for twenty years. He currently serves as the principal of Tyngsborough High School and has been the principal since 2012. Before that, he was a dean of students, a department chair, and a social studies teacher. He also spent a few years as a high school social studies teacher in Florida. Mr.Woodlock received a Bachelor of Arts in Economic Issues and Policy from Assumption College and a Master’s Degree in Secondary Education from Fitchburg State College. He is licensed as a Principal and also holds certification in Social Studies, as well as an endorsement for Sheltered English Immersion.

Mr. Woodlock was the unanimous choice of the screening committee. Our committee was comprised of a student, parents, teachers, administrators, and a school committee member. Because we had over fifty people request to be on the committee, and the limitations of having a committee that large, we wanted to ensure a greater perspective of feedback on our finalist. Thus, Mr. Wooodlock came and participated in a day long site visit on May 6th.

He met with students, staff, and parents. He also did a walk through of the building. Those who attended his forums provided feedback to us about Mr. Woodlock. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive and solidified what the committee already understood as an amazing fit between our school and district and Mr. Woodlock’s inclusive approach to leadership. Mr. Woodlock’s references spoke highly of his administrative practice and just confirmed what we saw in the interview process. This past Saturday, the school committee reviewed the contract and approved it, per our policy. It is with great pleasure that we confirm Mr. Woodlock’s appointment. Dr. Rodriguez, Superintendent of Schools said, “we are so very excited to have Mr. Woodlock join our skilled team. We look forward to entry planning and transition planning over the next few months.”
