GDRMS Weekly News – January 12th

Happy Saturday!

Just a reminder that grades for Quarter 2 close on 1/18/19….meaning that ALL outstanding assignments are due by that date in order to be counted for a grade. ‘Report Cards’ will be available 1/25/19 after school….meaning ALL grades for the quarter will be up to date and recorded as final grades.

January 18th will be a professional development day for teachers and an early dismissal for students. During IA blocks, all students will have signed up for an Exploratory IA block instead of their usual IA classes.

Friday (1/18) will be considered a Day 3, Monday (1/21)  will be NO School, Tuesday (1/22) will be a Day 2.

Washington DC trip for 8th graders – last call to sign up for this exciting trip! A few Spaces Left ; also, all Medical Release forms are due for participants.

Shout Outs – if you would like to send me a brief email in the form of a “Shout Out” for one of our faculty members, I would love to read that at our faculty meeting on Wednesday!

As you are hopefully aware, we are focused on PRIDE and trying to make sure these characteristics are reinforced across the school day. Here is a reflection form that a teacher might give a student to complete and bring home to be signed so that the student, teacher and parent may have a discussion about how to demonstrate the PRIDE characteristics more frequently. Feel free to use this at home as well! PRIDE

This message is from Tyler, a 7th grader on a Destination Imagination Team: We are part of the 7th Destination Imagination (DI) team. DI is a STEAM based program that allows kids to think outside the box. This year our team chose to solve the community service project challenge. For our solution, we are trying to help the people of Massachusetts who are not as fortunate as us. We are going to put together boxes of essentials needed for basic comfort and we need help doing so. We are in need of winter clothing, dental hygiene products, and NEW socks.  The donation box will be in the north building lobby. WE NEED YOUR HELP! Every donation counts! Thanks for your consideration. The 7th grade DI team

Finally – please keep these dates in mind to avoid absences as much as possible: MCAS Grades 5 & 6: ELA 4/23 & 24, Math 5/15 & 16;      Grades 7 & 8: ELA 4/30 & 5/1, Math 5/13 & 14;    Grades 5 & 8 Science Technology Engineering 5/21 & 22.

PRIDE Determination: Demonstrate grit and perseverance in the presence of obstacles.

Go Pats!
