Good Evening – a middle school news update!

11/1 – End of Quarter 1 – all student work due! [All grades updated by 3pm on 11/8] Students that have 2 or more ‘F’ grades may be exempted from extra curricular activities until mid-Quarter 2.

11/1 – This year, we are offering DnD roleplaying club on Friday afternoons from 2:30-3:30. This Dungeons and Dragons club is open to any middle school student, no experience necessary to join. If your child is interested or if you are looking for more information, please see Mr. Fleming or email him at cfleming@gdrsd.org.

11/6 – School Council – parents and faculty invited to attend this advisory council meeting, 4:15-5:15 in South Library.

11/7 & 11/14 – Half Days for Parent Conferences, your child(ren)’s teachers should be sending you an invite to sign up for a parent/teacher conference; some grades will be conducting Student Led Conferences.

Parent Drop-off and Pick-up – Thank you for following along in the line around the back of the north building! Thank you for keeping your child(ren) in the car in the morning until 7:56. One more thing, if you are in line in the morning or afternoon, please keep in mind that it is against the law to have an idling car sitting so close to a school building. So, before the line starts moving, please turn your ignition off. This especially is necessary at the end of the day, while students are in the building.

Bronze Award Project – Two 6th graders, Mackenzie Pauly and Callie Seager are part of Groton Girl Scout Troop 86147.  These young ladies worked on their Bronze Awards this year. To earn a Bronze Award, they built a handicapped accessible picnic table to donate to Larter field in Dunstable. The girls have spent a lot of time playing soccer and softball on the fields, and they noticed that there were no places for people in wheelchairs to eat. Their goal was to allow families with all abilities, wheelchair or no wheelchair, to enjoy a lunch or snack at the table. Mackenzie and Callie have been in scouting for 5 years and have been really excited for this Bronze Award project! The girls built and delivered the table to Larter Field recently and wanted to share the need for accessibility awareness with the community. The table was built with donated supplies from local businesses and general contractors.

PRIDE – Determination: Be ready to learn. Don’t give up. Work hard.
