Middle School News – September 4, 2020

September 4, 2020

Greetings to Middle School Families!

I can imagine that the delay for the start of school on September 16th might be difficult for students and their families, however, what an incredibly full schedule GDRMS faculty have had this past week. Faculty have attended trainings around COVID protocols, return to school changes to protocols, wellness, Universal Design for Learning, technology enhanced instruction practices, content specific trainings, and more. They have worked diligently to set up classrooms for students to be seated 6’ apart, removing lots and lots of furniture that will no longer meet this requirement. They are working on planning for a new approach to teaching students in person and remotely for the year. It has been an incredibly stressful, and yet productive week for all of us. Thank you for your support and understanding!

Here is a reminder about Back to School Supplies! We are looking forward to meeting students in person and remotely on September 16th. Hybrid and Remote Schedules for students entering grades 5-8.

We Need You!

If you enjoy spending time with middle schoolers…we are looking for a lunch/recess monitor to help out Mondays-Thursdays 11am-12:30 pm. A reward for your time would be $12/hour and the pleasure of helping to develop young adult minds! If you are interested in learning more about this opportunity, please email kmccollumn@gdrsd.org

Bus Transportation

Students that signed up for bus transportation by 9/3, will have a space on a bus route. Anyone that signed up for bus transportation after 9/3 may not be guaranteed a spot at this time.

Arrival & Dismissal Locations

Please note that, in order to reduce the number of students entering and exiting via the main entrances, we have designated specific entry and exit locations for each grade level. Please review this map with your middle schooler!
