Greetings to Middle School Families!
So nice to have some warm weather this week! I think we are settling in, but continue to work out kinks here and there. Thanks for your support!

Parent Drop Off/Pick-up In the mornings, we are getting just under 100 cars dropping students off in the morning and around 60 cars picking up in the afternoon. We are trying hard to keep the cars moving along and filling in any gaps in the line in order to avoid a traffic backup on Main Street. Please have your child ready to hop right out as soon as your car stops in the discharge area. If you would prefer to have your child ride the bus, there are some spots left on buses: 7, 9, 10, 12, 13, and 17. Here is a link to show bus routes in case you are interested in getting a seat on a bus for your child. If you would like a seat, please send an email to email@example.com.
Library News Just like many aspects of our new approach to ‘school’, our librarians have adjusted how students may check out books to enjoy. These links are for students in Hybrid or Remote Learning:
Checkout Form: Includes procedures for both remote and hybrid students.
Library Website: Includes ebook & audio book sites, library catalog and the book check out form.
-Students may only ride the bus they are assigned to.
-Students must sit in the seat that was assigned to them.
-Students must wear a mask on the bus at all times.
-Students should sanitize hands as they board the bus each morning.
Below are the consequences that we will enforce in order to keep all students safe:
1st Time: Student Will Receive a Warning 2ND Time Parents Will Be Notified and Student Will Not Be Able To Ride The Bus for 2-3 Days
3RD Time Student Will Not Be Able To Ride The Bus For The Remaining Of The School Year.
Lunches When you are ordering school lunch for your middle schooler, please be sure to record the STUDENT first and last name, NOT the parent name. This will help us get the lunch to the right student much faster! Student Name Location

PE News: Traditionally, we have asked students attending PE class to change out of the clothing and footwear that they will be wearing for the rest of the day. We have done this for a couple of reasons: 1. So that students are able to move freely and safely; 2. So that students do not have to wear clothing that they may have sweated in for the rest of the day in classes. We understand that some students may not be comfortable with the use of the locker rooms for changing before and after PE. With that in mind the Phys. Ed. Department here at the GDRMS has made some modifications to the rules of participation for students. A student now has a choice whether or not to change their clothes for PE classes. If a student wants to use the locker rooms to change before and after class they are welcome to do so. If a student does not want to use the locker room or change their clothes they will still be able to participate in PE as long as they are wearing sneakers that tie or velcro and pants, shorts or sweats that allow them to move comfortably and safely. So, changing or not changing for PE will not impact their grade, however, wearing clothing and footwear that are deemed unsafe will impact their grade.

Remote Learning Materials Pick-up Each Friday that school is in session, parents/guardians may pick up materials for their middle schooler that is learning in the remote model. Teachers will notify parents via email that there is something to be picked up, and parents are welcome to enter the South building for students in grades 5 & 6, or the North building for students in grades 7 & 8 on Fridays from 8am-3pm. Items to be picked up will be in the lobby, with student or teacher name labeled. No need to let us know in the office that you are picking items up!
PTO News On October 1st starting at 11 am until the end of the day, the PTO will be having a fundraiser at Anthony’s Coal Fire Pizza in Littleton at the Point. Please visit the link GDRMS PTO FUNDRAISER to commit to eat and to get more information on how to help have 20% of all orders for the PTO come back to our school! firstname.lastname@example.org
