Principal Update October 1, 2018

  1. As we conclude our first month of the school year, I want to share with you how proud I am of our students and staff.  The transition into a new grade or even a new school is not easy for all kids.  Our staff did a tremendous job welcoming their new students and developing a classroom culture that is safe, collegial, and conducive to learning.  Again, I want to thank all of our parents for preparing your child for school everyday.
  2. I want to thank our APT and parent volunteers for all their hard work in planning and carrying out our “Back To School Picnic”.  It was a huge success and I have received wonderful feedback from our students and parents regarding this event. Please stay tuned in for further school wide activities and programs from our APT.
  3. I want to reiterate the comments the Superintendent sent out last week regarding our 2018 MCAS results.  Swallow Union was one of 52 schools state wide that was recognized for our high achievement.  This is a great honor and our students and staff deserve a great deal of credit for their hard work and perseverance during this assessment.  This is a K-4 accomplishment, as we all know learning begins as soon as our kids walk through our doors in kindergarten.  I have attached a link to the Mass Department of Education to view our results: http://profiles.doe.mass.edu/mcas/achievement_level.aspx?linkid=32&orgcode=06730005&orgtypecode=6&
  4. I want to remind parents that a great deal of success is due to our open and honest home and school communication.  If you ever have questions, concerns, or even compliments, please reach out to our school personnel at any time.
