Principal Update April 10, 2019

  1. I know it is officially spring time, but you could have fooled me. It feels more like November. Hopefully, April will bring us more seasonable weather. With the start of spring, I know many of our students have more outside activities that fill up their weekly schedule.   I suggest trying to create a weekly calendar for your family that includes activities and time for school work. It is important that our students don’t let up with their effort. They have been working hard all year, and during last two  months we concentrate on skills that they will need to be successful next year.
  2. Many of our 4th graders have been working hard for the past couple of months rehearsing for the play, “Willy Wonka Jr.”  The play will take place on May 3rd and 4th.  We will provide information regarding ticket sales after vacation.
  3. I want to thank the APT and our Erin Mulligan for organizing and funding our author visit, Bruce Colville.  He spent the entire day at SU and spoke to each grade level about all aspects of writing.  He was insightful and very entertaining for our students.  Hopefully, we can keep the tradition of welcoming a well known children’s author next year.
  4. We started the ELA MCAS Assessment this week.  Our third graders will conclude their testing this week, and our 4th graders will be assessed after vacation.  Both grades will take the Math portion during the month of May.
  5. If you are missing any clothing items, please remind your child to check our “Lost And Found Table.” We have many items that have been there for an extended period of time.
