Qustodio Parent App

Safeguarding Your Child’s Digital Activity for a Healthy Online Experience

Managing your child’s online activity is more important than ever in today's digital world. To support our GDRHS parents in keeping their children’s digital lives balanced and secure, we are excited to introduce a new tool: Qustodio. This tool provides parents with visibility into their child’s online activity on district-issued, 1:1 Chromebooks and students who log in using their district-issued @gdrsd.us email account on a personal device, allowing you to guide safe and responsible digital habits.

With Qustodio, you’ll be able to:

Activate Your Free Qustodio Account
At the beginning of the year, and for new high school students, when they enroll, Qustodio will email simple instructions for registering your parent account. You can start today by visiting http://www.qustodio.com/my-school. Please use the same email address on the SchoolBrains Parent Community Portal.

We are excited to work with you and Qustodio to help our students develop healthy and safe online habits. Please visit http://gdrsd.onlinesafetyhub.io for more information about Qustodio and access to expert advice and additional resources.

More Time Online Exposes Kids to More Risks
We understand that every child faces different risks in their digital lives. Qustodio offers tools to help parents navigate these challenges and keep their children safe. The correlation between parental involvement and improved well-being and learning for children is well-established. In line with this, the Qustodio offering does not stop at school-issued devices. Parents will also be allowed to use the app on one personal device per child, helping to ensure the broadest possible protection.

Online Predators: 50% of online exploitation victims are between the ages of 12 and 15. Qustodio provides expert advice to help you talk to your children about spotting and avoiding data thieves, groomers, sexual predators, and stalkers.

Mental Health Issues: Severe depression has increased by 58% since 2010, coinciding with a rise in smartphone use. Qustodio enables you to limit your child’s screen time, helping to protect their mental well-being.

Sleep Problems: 73% of high school students don’t get enough sleep, impacting their ability to learn and manage emotions. Qustodio helps you set downtime limits before bed, reducing exposure to blue light and improving sleep.

Online Privacy: 51% of teens use social media, which can expose them to privacy risks. Qustodio helps parents monitor social media activity, ensuring personal information stays private and inappropriate messages from strangers are blocked.

Cyberbullying: 33% of kids have experienced cyberbullying. Qustodio allows you to monitor texts to detect and block bullies before harm is done.

Inappropriate Content: 42% of children have been exposed to explicit content online. With Qustodio, you can filter browsing results, monitor YouTube activity, and block adult websites to prevent your child from seeing disturbing material.

Online Addiction: 50% of kids admit to being addicted to their smartphones. Qustodio helps set healthy boundaries with consistent time limits and can block apps used excessively.

Education Issues: Students who spend more than two hours on screens daily show a 63% decrease in academic performance. Qustodio encourages healthy device habits by limiting non-educational activities and redirecting children toward learning resources.

Screens are here to stay. With children using devices at increasingly younger ages, having the right tools to help your kids develop healthy digital habits is more important than ever.
