In a move to upgrade essential hardware, Groton-Dunstable Regional High School (GDRHS) proudly announces its second Emergency Connectivity Fund (ECF) grant. Valued at $185,500, this grant acquired 700 Google Chromebooks, solidifying the school's commitment to cutting-edge technology for GDRHS students.
Dr. Luke Callahan, Director of Technology & Learning at Groton-Dunstable Regional School District, emphasizes the transformative impact of the ECF grant: "This grant is vital for sustaining our ongoing technology replacement cycle, ensuring high schoolers have access to new Chromebooks that foster personalized and innovative learning environments.”
The ECF program, a $7.171 billion initiative by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), aids schools and libraries in overcoming challenges from the initial COVID-19 pandemic. This marks the second consecutive ECF grant for the district, following last year's $106,000 grant for Groton-Dunstable Regional Middle School.
Covering a range of tools for remote learning, including laptops, tablets, Wi-Fi hotspots, modems, routers, and broadband connectivity, the ECF Program ensures inclusivity and technological advancement for students and educators. Joseph Bisbee, Systems Administrator at GDRSD, highlights the impact on students: "This grant opens avenues for learning, providing necessary tools for excelling in the digital age. The 700 new Chromebooks will be a game-changer, reducing access barriers and enhancing the overall high school educational experience."
