Boutwell Early Childhood Center
78 Hollis Street, Groton
(978) 448-2297
Screenings will be offered by Groton-Dunstable Regional School District for parents with concerns about their child’s development. They are available for children ages 3-5, residing in Groton or Dunstable. Parents with specific concerns about their child should call Boutwell at 978-448-2297 to schedule an appointment. If you have any questions or would like more information, please contact Maggie Ross Richardson, Early Childhood Coordinator, at mrossrichardson@gdrsd.org.
The screening process looks at the following areas: Speech and Language, Fine and Visual Motor, Gross Motor, and Developmental.
Speech and Language: How the child understands language and makes his or her needs and wants known to the world, in order to engage with peers and adults and participate in preschool curriculum and play.
Fine and Visual Motor: How the child uses fine motor skills, such as hand manipulation and eye-hand coordination to grasp and manipulate objects and engage in preschool activities and play.
Gross Motor: How a child uses gross motor skills in the school curriculum and environment. This includes participation in recess, moving throughout the school (for example, getting up and down from the floor, sitting in a chair, walking, and stairs).
Developmental: How the child processes information verbally, visually and using memory skills, and also the child’s social skills. It assists in identifying strengths and areas for growth.
The appointment hours are between 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
