Aerial view of Middle School

Good morning,

While a full document on all fall reopening procedures will be available next week, I wanted to update families and staff on two that are of utmost importance.

SCHOOL COMMITTEE MEETING:

As most families and staff are aware, the GDRSC held a meeting on Wednesday, August 11th. As a result of the meeting the school committee adopted a resolution that is summarized below:

1. All students K - 12 must wear masks when indoors, with limited exceptions for students with IEP/504 plans which indicate this was contraindicated. If the level of students who have full vaccination in any building reaches 90%, the Superintendent is authorized to bring a proposal to the school committee to ease the mask-wearing in that building. Vaccinations for students can not be mandated at this time.

2. All visitors must wear masks when indoors in any school building.

3. All staff must wear masks in the presence of students. If a staff member is vaccinated mask-wearing is not required if they are not in the presence of students AND all others in the room have been vaccinated (this is currently under negotiations with the GDEA).

4. All staff who are unvaccinated must wear masks and all times and must participate in weekly pooled testing. (This is currently under negotiations with the GDEA).

The full meeting can be viewed on TheGrotonChannel.org. The full text of the resolution of the school committee will be made available to families and staff next week.

VACCINATION CLINICS:

As the School Committee resolution urges everyone eligible to be vaccinated, we will be sponsoring a vaccination clinic on Tuesday, August 31st at the Groton Dunstable Regional Middle School. An appointment to receive the vaccination is not required but will be available.

Forms are attached and the link is below.

Best regards,

Laura Chesson
