Director's Note

Dear Families,

Many of you have asked about Halloween Costumes. This year, we are doing something different. At Boutwell, inclusive practices and celebrating the individual child are at the core of what we do. To this end, we want to keep this day focused on the individual child, not their costumes. We recognize that not all families celebrate Halloween. Additionally, at preschool, children paint, run and play outside, dig, and enjoy messy sensory activities. Costumes do not lend themselves easily to those activities and are potentially a safety hazard. In lieu of costumes, parents may send their children in a funny hat or socks if they choose to.

ECAC: The Early Childhood Advisory Council is a group of parents, community members, teachers, etc. who come together to discuss programs and plans for Boutwell. We are currently forming a new ECAC and would love volunteers to join! There will be 3 afternoon meetings this year- November, February, and May. The November meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 13th, at 12pm.

Upcoming Events: Tomorrow, the Groton Public Library is hosting a virtual event with Rebekah Gienapp: Raising Anti-Racist Kids. This event is from 7-8pm. Please sign up on the GPL website.
