We’re thrilled to bring IXL back this year. It supercharges our math curriculum with an interactive learning platform that makes practicing over 8,000 math skills fun and effective! Plus, it goes beyond math by covering critical language arts skills. Whether your child is at school or home, IXL helps them master concepts in a dynamic, personalized way.
IXL customizes practice recommendations for each student, meeting them exactly where they are and guiding them to reach new heights. It’s an incredible tool for targeted growth, and GDRSD’s PreK-8 Mathematics Curriculum Coordinator, Karen Gartland, agrees: “IXL is an invaluable tool that promotes targeted learning and enrichment!”
How Does IXL Work?
IXL is designed to boost confidence and progress by offering individualized skill recommendations based on a student's unique learning needs. At GDRSD, kindergarten through eighth-grade students will use IXL regularly, including diagnostic assessments 3-4 times a year. Whether it's in class or for homework, IXL provides continuous practice opportunities. Want to track your child’s progress? Simply log into ClassLink and select IXL for up-to-date reports!

What is SmartScore?
IXL’s SmartScore is more than just a number—it’s a unique way to measure progress by factoring in question difficulty, accuracy, and consistency. Scores of 80 or 90 reflect strong understanding; a perfect 100 means mastery! As Karen Gartland says, “The SmartScore motivates students to keep improving from proficiency to mastery.”
