Dear Florence Roche Families,

It’s hard to believe we are already finishing up our first month of school.  There was so much anticipation and excitement of opening the year in our new building.  It feels like everyone is now settling in and adjusting to the routines of school.  The early fall temperatures with the cool mornings and warmer afternoons really make me feel like we are back to school.  I hope you have all had a positive start to our year.

You know it’s back to school when picture day pops up on the calendar.  School Picture Day is Wednesday, October 2nd.  O’Connor Studios will be here this week to take student portraits.  All students will have their picture taken regardless of whether or not you are interested in ordering pictures.  We use the pictures in SchoolBrains, our student management system, and we will also use the pictures for the annual student yearbook.  Use this link O’Connor Studios Order and code 81924F to access the online resource.

Our back to school Open House events are scheduled for grades K and 1 on Tuesday, October 8th and for grades 2-4 on Thursday, October 10th.  The hours on both evenings are from 6:30-7:30.  Parents and guardians are invited along with their students to visit their classrooms, meet their teachers and see the other shared areas of our school.  Your students have been experiencing their new school and we expect that they will be excited to share it with you.  This is not a teacher conference evening as those are scheduled for November.  It’s an opportunity for you to meet the adults spending time with your student each day and for you to see the school.  The PTA is also hosting a costume sale in the cafe from 6:00-6:30 and from 7:30-8:00.  Please note that classrooms and teachers will only be available between 6:30 and 7:30.  Parking will be available in the main campus parking lot.  Accessible parking for those needing it is located near the front entrance of our building at the top of our driveway.

Don’t forget to stop by and collect any lost items at the Lost and Found table located just inside the cafeteria.  We plan to donate any remaining items after our Open House evenings.

Mrs. Caulfield’s 1st grade class had a special guest teacher this week.  Our superintendent, Dr. Bruno, was the substitute teacher for the morning as Mrs. Caulfield cashed in her “Golden Ticket”.  Dr. Bruno distributed several “Golden Tickets” to lucky staff members during our district opening meeting in August.  We look forward to seeing where Dr. Bruno shows up to substitute next!

As a reminder, Friday, 10/4 is an early dismissal.  Student dismissal begins at 12:17pm.
