Dear Florence Roche Families,

We are only a couple of weeks away from being able to access the playground and court area of our new building space.  The contractors are finishing up with the rubber surface this week.  It’s impressive to see how they skillfully apply the product and it truly is an art to trowel it all so smoothly by hand.  I know our students will enjoy having this fun new place to play.

The book fair is on for next week!  The team of parent volunteers were busy this afternoon getting it all set up in the gym and ready for our first visiting classes on Monday.  If you are planning to visit the book fair with your student’s class, you will need to have your license/ID scanned before entering the building.  Please consider the additional time that may take when planning your arrival.

The Groton Fire Department was back this week to visit our remaining classrooms and to show our kindergarten students a couple of the emergency vehicles.  Thank you to the Groton FD and the firefighters who took time out of their day to teach our students about fire safety.

We started our relationship with NEADS, the service dog training organization, this week.  Homer and Kelsey visited a couple of our first grade classrooms this morning.  They were very well behaved and were enthusiastically greeted by our students and staff.  As part of Homer’s training, he successfully used the accessible door opener on his way out.  This is a skill he will need to have when working with someone unable to open a door on their own.  He was impressive!

If you are picking up your student at dismissal time and you decide to walk up, please remember to park in the main parking lot in front of the middle school south building.  Do not park in the staff parking area along both sides of our driveway.

On Tuesday 10/22, there will be road construction at the main entrance to our campus off of Route 119.  The contractors are working on enlarging our driveway entrance to allow for vehicles to travel along our driveway.  They are constructing an additional lane to allow for entering vehicles to travel on to the middle school buildings and main parking area.  There will be a police detail on site to assist with traffic flow.  Please travel safely.

The high school drama group is performing their version of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest on

November 1st and 2nd.

Have a nice weekend.
