Dear Florence Roche Families,

I hope you all enjoy the upcoming long Veterans Day weekend.  Thank you to all of our Veterans for their service and commitment to keeping our country safe.  Mr. Fahy’s 4th graders had a special visit this week from Major LaBelle, one of our parents, who is an active member of the U.S. Army.

We had an all school meeting this week to review the expectations around our new playground.  Mrs. Taylor led the meeting and connected the playground procedures to our core values of respect, responsibility and resilience.  On Thursday and Friday, individual classrooms had time to visit and learn about the new playground with their teachers.  The overall vibe from the students after having a chance to explore their new playground was very enthusiastic.  We will begin having our lunch recess on the new playground this upcoming Tuesday, 11/12.

We have also asked the students to leave their toys and stuffed animals at home.  These are distractions to learning.

Mrs. Taylor and I would like to invite parents and guardians to our 1st Principals’ Coffee on Monday, November 18th from 9:15-10:00 am in our cafeteria.  This is an opportunity for you to ask questions about our new school or anything else related to your student’s school experience.  During this fall coffee, we will plan to share our thoughts on how to make the most of your upcoming parent conferences.

The lost and found table is getting full.  Please remind your student to check the table for any missing items.  The lost and found table will be moved to the lobby during our conference days, so you can take a look as you pass by.  The lost and found will be cleared out at the Thanksgiving holiday break and any remaining items will be donated.

This year more than ever, for some people in our community, the holiday season can be anything but happy.  If you are a family with young children, infants to Middle School and are experiencing financial difficulties, please remember that the Community Children’s Fund can help with gifts, food and winter clothing.  If you would like to experience the joy of giving during this upcoming holiday season, the Community Children’s Fund would be able to offer several different options.  To participate in either of these holiday traditions, Receiving or Giving, please contact Karen Tuomi at 978-877-6787 or email trustfunds@grotonma.gov.   Confidentiality is strictly maintained. Wishing you all happy and healthy holidays!!

Enjoy the weekend.

Brian
