Dear Florence Roche Families,

It looks like we will get some new snow over the weekend.  The timing of the snowfall has been good so far as it hasn’t impacted our school days.  Temperatures are forecasted to drop again, so the potential for indoor recess next week is there.  As a reminder, we do go out for recess when the combined temperature and windchill are above 20 degrees.  Physical activity and fresh air are certainly beneficial to all.  I’m noticing most students are coming prepared for the weather.  Thank you for supporting their clothing and outerwear choices during these winter months.  Also, don’t forget to have your student check the lost and found in the cafe if they are missing hats and gloves.

Our kindergarten students learned about how the animals in our area survive through these winter months in New England.  This enrichment experience provided by the Nashua River Watershed Association is funded through a grant from the Groton Commissioners of Trust.

Unfortunately, these winter months also bring us the cold and flu season.  In an effort to keep our school community healthy, our nursing team is sharing the guidelines for a student’s attendance and their return to school after an illness. Please follow this link for the specific guidelines. Important Illness Guidelines

Don’t miss our next Principals’ coffee scheduled for Monday, February 3rd from 9:15-10:00.  We have a special guest joining us.  Mrs. Dinneen, our math specialist, will be in attendance to share some strategies for supporting math learning at home.

The Spring 2025 MCAS dates for our grades 3 and 4 students are set.  Please note these dates on your calendars now so that we can avoid any potential student absence.
