Dear Florence Roche Families,

I hope everyone made it safely through yesterday’s snow day.  Although we didn’t get a large accumulation of snow, the sleet mix during our scheduled dismissal time would have made the trip home for everyone more challenging.  It seems like we are now entering a snow pattern with the forecasted snow for Sunday and then for later next week.  One more week to go before our February break!

Thank you to our PTA for providing us with a large order of Krispy Kreme donuts this morning.  It was a nice treat to have upon returning from the snow day.

On Wednesday, Students participated in the Global Play Day.  This worldwide event promotes social interactions and unstructured play among children.  Students brought in favorite board games and puzzles from home to share with their peers.  It was an opportunity for free play without the use of screens.

The snow day pushed our 100th day of school to next Monday.  This is always a milestone in our year.  It’s especially exciting for our kindergarten students and I’m sure they will be celebrating the number 100 in a variety of ways on Monday.

Our 2nd grade students will be performing their choral concert on Thursday evening, 2/13, at 7:00pm in the middle school PAC.  Mr. Wiesner and Mrs. Mohan have been busy preparing the students for their concert.  We hope our 2nd grade families will be able to attend.  It will surely be a memorable performance.

Last Call for Lost and Found

The lost and found is full of hats, mittens and gloves.  If your student is missing an item, please remind them to check the lost and found during their lunch.  The lost and found will be cleaned out during the February vacation and remaining items will be donated.

The 2025-2026 incoming kindergarten information night is scheduled for Thursday, March 6th from 6:30pm-7:30pm.  Kindergarten registration for the 2025-2026 school year opens on Friday, March 7th.  Please plan to attend if you will have an incoming kindergarten student next year.  If you have any friends of neighbors who are not yet parents in our school, please let them know about this informational event.

A community open house to see our new building is scheduled for Saturday, March 1st from 10:00am-12:00pm.  Members of our 4th grade Student Council will be present to lead tours of the building.   Light refreshments will be served.  The school committee will host a public forum as part of this event. The forum begins at 11:00am.  Please share this information with any of your neighbors who may not have students in our school, but may be interested in seeing the building.

The Spring 2025 MCAS dates for our grades 3 and 4 students are set.  Please note these dates on your calendars now so that we can avoid any potential student absence.
