Dear Florence Roche Families,

Happy Pi Day!  Florence Roche is celebrating this special math day by hosting a family math games event this evening.  Mrs. Dinneen, our math specialist, organized an evening of math themed fun.  I hope you are able to join us!

School Committee members Lacey McCabe and Rohit Bhasin spent time in our building this week to learn from our students.  They interviewed a representative group of students from each grade level to get the student perspective on their school experience.  Student voices from the high school and middle school have been featured in previous School Committee newsletters.  Make sure to read the March edition of their newsletter to hear our students’ voices.

Dr. Bruno took on a paraprofessional role on Thursday afternoon as part of his “Golden Ticket” initiative.  At our district opening meeting, lucky staff members found these tickets strategically placed in the auditorium.  Any staff member finding a ticket was gifted a half-day of coverage by Dr. Bruno.  We were happy to have him helping us out on Thursday afternoon especially during our unannounced fire drill.

Our second term is coming to an end on March 21st.  This is also an early release day designated for parent conferences.  We look forward to connecting with you to discuss student progress.

I am excited for the grades 3 and 4 musical performance of School House Rock happening next week.  Those songs take me back to the Saturday mornings of my childhood.  I can still remember those short and catchy videos that ran between the cartoons.  I’m looking forward to seeing how our students bring those classic videos to life. Make sure to get your tickets for Friday, 3/21 or Saturday, 3/22.

Thank you to those who have already completed the School Council community engagement survey.  If you haven’t had a chance to do so yet, we would appreciate your input.   The survey will close on March 21st.

School Council Community Engagement Survey

A goal for the School Council this year is to increase community engagement throughout the transition into our new school building.  Our school community grew with the addition of many Groton residents who had been attending Swallow Union Elementary School.

In addition to community engagement, we also wanted our many new families to feel welcomed as members of the new Florence Roche School Community.  Please take a moment to complete this brief survey.
