Dear Florence Roche Families,
It was a week to celebrate student performances. Hopefully, you were all able to get a ticket to the grade 3 and 4 musical performance of School House Rock last weekend. Our students were amazing! These songs brought back so many memories from my childhood. My wife and daughter accompanied me to the show and were equally impressed with our students.
Last night, our first grade students performed their songs around the world show for family and friends. They demonstrated enthusiasm and a love of music throughout the performance. Thank you to Mr. Wiesner and Mrs. Mohan for all of their efforts in preparing the students for this special night.
Kindergarten students enjoyed a performance of the Monster Circus Puppet Show this week. After the engaging presentation, the presenter shared information about how he was able to create his puppets with simple materials. Puppets are a great resource for practicing storytelling and oral language. Thank you to the PTA for providing this enrichment experience.
First graders learned about empathy and perspective taking through a read aloud experience with Ms. Raquel. This windows, mirrors, and sliding glass doors based literacy experience supports our students as seeing themselves in the books they read. This also helps students learn about others who may be different from them. Thank you to the Groton Commissioners of Trust for funding this program.
A big thank you to our PTA and our first grade families for providing the end of the week treats for us. You really did “Knock our Socks Off!”
The Scholastic Book Fair was a great success this week. Students and staff really look forward to this event. We truly appreciate all of the generous parent book donations in support of the teacher wish lists. Our classroom libraries get some great new titles. Thank you to the many parent volunteers for making this work and especially to our PTA President, Joey Tomaino for all of his work during the book fair and behind the scenes to coordinate all of it.
We will be planning our student class placement for the 2025-2026 school year later this spring. Your input is an important part of this process and we encourage you to respond to the attached parent input letter and questionnaire. The parent input form is due back to your child’s teacher or to the office by Friday, April 18th. Here is the link to the placement letter. You will need to make a copy of the doc or download it in order to write on it.
