Dear Florence Roche Families,
Our 3rd and 4th graders did a great job with this week’s ELA MCAS assessments. With the exception of just a few makeups next week, we successfully completed this first round. Attendance was excellent and I want to thank all of our families for supporting the students in being prepared each day. All of our students (K-4) supported the testing by adjusting schedules when necessary and making sure to be quiet throughout the building. MCAS is a team effort!
It’s fitting that our 3rd and 4th graders blew off some steam at the V.I.P. Dance last Friday night. In anticipation of their MCAS tests, students came together with their very important person and enjoyed socializing and dancing. I really enjoyed seeing so many of our 3rd and 4th graders dressed up and having fun. A huge thank you to our PTA and all the volunteers who supported this event. Joey Tomaino, Laura Falardeau, Jillian Doyle, and Jennifer Mertes did a ton of work to make this happen for our students. Thank you to all!
A group of high school peer leaders visited our 4th grade classrooms this week. They shared a book with each class and led them through an activity focusing on empathy, kindness and perspective. The timing of their visit was great because students have been exploring these themes through the Second Step program as well. The high school students will be back next week to follow up with our students.
The 4th grade Student Council is leading a school wide Spirit Week next week. We will engage in some fun themed days as we head off to our April school vacation week.
Reminder for Parent Input in our Placement Process - Due by 4/18
We will be planning our student class placement for the 2025-2026 school year later this spring. The parent input form is due back to your child’s teacher or to the office by Friday, April 18th. Here is the link to the placement letter. You will need to make a copy of the doc or download it in order to write on it.
Our final Principal’s Coffee for the year is scheduled for Monday, May 5th at 9:00am in our cafe. Middle School Principal, Wendy Salvatore and Middle School Assistant Principal, Michael Day will be our special guests. Ms. Salvatore and Mr. Day will share information about the transition to middle school for our 4th grade families and anyone else interested in hearing about this process.
