December 23, 2022
Dear Florence Roche Families,
We made it to our December holiday break! This is always a welcome pause to our busy school calendar. It is even more so this year with all of the cold and flu bugs that have been going around our staff and student population. I wish everyone a healthy and restful vacation week.
Thank you to everyone for supporting our recent Loaves and Fishes food drive. Under the leadership and direction of our 4th graders we were able to donate nearly 500 pounds of food. Your kindness and generosity are very much appreciated by those in need.
The 1st term student report cards are available for viewing through the parent portal in SchoolBrains.
There was a lot of visible progress on the new building construction site this week. The steel beams started showing up on Monday and the contractors quickly started assembling what will eventually house our 4th grades and 1st grades. I look forward to seeing how much they accomplish over the vacation week. This is very exciting!
My Principal for the Day, Nicholas, did an amazing job supporting the operation of our school on Thursday. His classmates were especially pleased with him and his decision to grant them a little extra recess. It was fun spending the day with him.
This is so important that we are sharing it with you again this week. I hope everyone stays healthy over the break!
The incidence of influenza, RSV (respiratory syncytial virus), Covid-19, and the common cold are on the rise in many communities. We wanted to remind you of ways to help keep your family and the Florence Roche community healthy.
Keep your child home if they have a fever. They must be fever free for 24 hours without the use of Tylenol or Ibuprofen prior to returning to school.
If your child has vomited or had loose stools within the past 24 hours, or has a persistent cough they must remain home.
If your child has bacterial conjunctivitis or strep throat they must remain home until they have been on antibiotics for 24 hours.
Test for Covid-19 if your child has any COVID-19 symptoms If they test positive follow the Isolation Guidelines
Encourage your child to wash their hands often-wash with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
Encourage your child to cover their coughs and sneeze with their elbow or tissue
If you plan on being in a very crowded area, like the mall or an airport, consider wearing a mask to protect yourself and your child.
Consider getting the influenza vaccine Flu Vaccine Locations
Thank you for helping us keep Florence Roche and your family healthy.
