Family memo

Hi Middle School families, I hope you had a wonderful weekend.

What does community look, feel and sound like? Community looks, feels and sounds like Ownership, Awareness and Kindness.

Awareness- Be aware of your surroundings, aware of your body, your actions, of how you affect others. Be aware of what you bring and what you leave behind.  This is the second of our core values that we will be working on with your students next year.

7th grade families,  Traditionally the 7th grade hosts the 8th grade breakfast the day after the moving up ceremony.  This will be Friday the 16th.  If you are interested in helping us with the breakfast please email me and I will connect all of you that show interest.

    • Parents, have you talked to your kids about inclusion? Ask them if they see all kids being included at school. What about after school activities? Have you prompted them to think about who might be missing?  Best Buddies is a club where no one is missing!  Best Buddies is an after school club that “fosters friendships between middle school students with and without Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD), in which they share interests, experiences, and activities. Students with IDD are often isolated and left out of social activities. Best Buddies Middle Schools helps to create an inclusive middle school culture for all students early.”

    • Best Buddies is a chance to “form meaningful connections with their peers, gain self-confidence and self-esteem, and share interests, experiences and activities that many other individuals enjoy.”

    • It is a chance to meet new people. It is an opportunity to be a leader and help build a more inclusive kind community. It is a time to make new friends, play games, make crafts, eat snacks, and have fun.
