Hello Middle School families. I hope you had a great weekend.
Parent Conferences seemed to run smoothly this past week. Please let us know if you were not able to attend and how we can help.
Please remember if you are planning to dismiss your student this week a note ahead of time is very helpful.
Finding Nemo Jr. - Congratulations to the cast & crew, and the wonderful staff and volunteers that produced three fabulous shows of Finding Nemo Jr. Creating a show of this magnitude and cohesion is a true definition of collaboration. Bravo!

South Updates
Project Mitten - On Monday, November 20, the 5th and 6th grade students will start the day with a Project Mitten assembly. Inspired by the book, The Mitten by Jan Brett, GDRMS created a service project called Project Mitten. Project Mitten is a fundraiser that donates all of its proceeds directly to the Groton Community Children’s Fund. The first event of the Project Mitten season is the 6th Grade Turkey Trot, on Tuesday November 21st. Although all 6th grade students are allowed to participate, donations to participate are greatly appreciated. Remember to bring your sneakers!
If you are a family with school aged children and are experiencing financial difficulties,
please remember that the Community Children’s Fund can help with gifts, food and
winter clothing. If you would like to experience the joy of giving during this upcoming
holiday season, the Community Children’s Fund would be able to offer several
different options. To participate in either of these holiday traditions, Giving or
Receiving, please contact Karen Tuomi at 978-877-6787 or visit the Trust Funds office
located at GDRMS - South. Confidentiality is strictly maintained.

From a Current 8th Grade student, SQUISHMALLOWS 4 a CAUSE!!!
Together with my friends and family I am collecting NEW, unused Squishmallows for the Worcester Children's Hospital as part of my end of the year 8th grade civics project.
All Squishmallows collected will go right to Kendra Frederick (Groton resident and Mom). Kendra is one of the hospital's amazing Child Life Specialists. On any given night the hospital has approximately 60 kids staying overnight. Therefore, our goal is to collect at least 60 Squishmallows - although we are secretly hoping for 120! =) I will stop collecting on Dec. 11!
We have two ways for your to participate:
#1 A new, unused Squishmallows (any size, shape or theme) can be brought to Mrs. Ogden's room in the Middle School North Building
or
#2 you can donate $5-$10 and we will do the shopping for you! Venmo @Jennifer-Moeller-25, please put "Squishmallow" in the comments!
If you have questions or would like to view my Amazon and Target Wish List to have a Squishmallow delivered directly to my house please email me at MoellerLAddisyn@gmail.com
School Council, We held our first school council meeting on Monday 10/23. All members were present. Our next meeting will be 12/4/23 at 2:45 in the South Library. These meetings will also be posted on our Middle School website. On the website you will find our meetings on the calendar and in the Menu-> Documents -> School Council you will find our minutes.
PTO
Annual Fundraising Campaign, I wanted to bring this back to the top. Our Middle School PTO can’t do all the things they do without your support.
Each year, the GDMS PTO runs a campaign to raise funds for the school year and beyond. All funds raised are integral to our mission to support the well-rounded educational experience of students and staff at the middle school. We appreciate any and all support. Thank you!
Volunteers Needed
The PTO is looking for volunteers to fill a variety of roles. There are opportunities available for people who are able to donate one hour of their time, people who have several hours to give, and everyone in between. We would love to work with you! See our flyer for more information.
