Family memo

Hello Middle School families. I hope you are having a lovely weekend.

As we are getting into the second half of the school year I want to bring our Core Values to the top of our memo.

  • This week let’s remind, reinforce and redirect around Awareness.  Be aware of yourself and others, be Aware of your surroundings, and be Aware of your impact.  How does what you do and say affect others and yourself?  How can you partner with us and help to teach our middle school students to be more aware of what they say and do?

  • Does your student play an instrument, sing, dance, and like to perform? GDRMS is hosting a Student Showcase on March 12th at 7:00 PM in the PAC. If your student is interested in performing, please fill out THIS FORM before March 5th. If you have any questions, email Ms. Stone at estone@gdrsd.org.

  • GDRMS PTO Newsletter,

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1jn9BjqaH5LzYBcv99__qG_UNt2Us6EYL/view?usp=drive_link

  • Grades 7 & 8, Mark your calendars.   There will be a dance on Thursday, February 15th from 6-8 in the North Cafe. There will be a DJ, games, music, prizes, and refreshments! $5 entry fee & $1 concessions.  This is not a dance where students need dates.

  • Bus Concerns, I have received 2 emails from parents regarding concerns about the bus ride.   If you have questions or concerns about your child’s bus ride I encourage you to reach out to the bus company.  The  telephone number for Dee Bus is 978-448-3322.  Or you can email Ms. Renna at erenna@deebus.com.  She is more than happy to answer and questions and provide support.

  • Author Visit, Jarrett Krosoczka is coming to our school on Tuesday January  30th.  We are very excited to welcome him.  Our own Middle Librarians were able to procure so eof his books from the local libraries so that students and teachers could do a preview before the 30th.  We have also received information that

    • High Five Books, a joyful, affirming, inclusive kids' bookstore in Florence, MA, right up the road from author/ illustrator Jarrett J. Krosoczka has some signed copies of books that be purchased.  See below.

    • High Five Books regularly works with Jarrett to ensure that readers in the places he is scheduled to visit have access to purchasing signed, personalized copies of the books he'll be referencing in his presentation. In advance of JJK's visit with Groton Middle School readers on 1/30, we've created the following book ordering page specifically for your school to share with families of readers: https://www.highfivebooks.org/jjk-groton

    • If caretakers order from that page, we'll work directly with Jarrett to have books signed, personalized, and brought with him to the event for you to hand out during his visit. You are welcome to share that link in your email and print newsletters--and if a social media graphic could be helpful, as well, we'd be glad to provide one.

    • Please let us know if there's anything else we can do to help your community access more of JJK's work. And thank you so much for all you do for young readers!
