Family Memo

Hello Middle School families. I hope you have a great last full week of the 23-24 school year.  I can’t believe that we are at the end of the school year.  Thank you for your partnership this last year.  We can’t do it without you.  It takes a village to educate our students.

Last week we notified families that a student had drawn a swastika on their hand.  We have completed our interviews and have come to the conclusion that the students involved did not fully understand the impact of the symbol.  One family took this opportunity to educate their student, and took them to the Holocaust Memorial in Boston.  This is where, “it takes a village” comes in.  We teach topics in school but sometimes conversations and follow up at home is just as important if not more so.

Core Values of Ownership Awareness and Kindness looked, felt and sounded like.  This week's favorite…

I had a hard time picking this week so I did OAK.

  • Ownership sounds like being truthful and using respectful words.

  • Awareness looks like acknowledging others.

  • Kindness looks like helping someone clean up.

We had the 4th grade students visit the Middle School on Friday.  The halls were a buzz with laughter and smiling faces.  Some of our 5th grade students decorated the sidewalk outside the South building.
