Hello Middle School families. I hope you have a great weekend. I am actually heading to the Big E to watch my niece ride her pony in the coliseum there, and maybe have some fun fair food. 🙂
We will be holding our Annual Bookfair this week. With you having an opportunity to visit with your students during our Open House.
Open House this Thursday 9/19. Some things to note that are different this year.
All grownups will start with a presentation from your building Assistant Principals.
Grades 5 and 6 will meet in the PAC
Grades 7 and 8 will meet in the North Gym
Students are invited. You can bring them or not, your choice.
You will all experience an Advisory with your student’s Advisory teacher
You will have 30 minutes to visit with your student’s team teachers
You will have 30 minutes to see what Integrated Arts classes your student has.
The Building times are reversed and flexible so that if you have a student in the south and north you can explore a little bit.
We are really trying to keep this as an “Open House” rather than a curriculum night. We are welcoming students so they can show you their space. We are not having a strict schedule in the hope that parents won’t feel as much stress. We hope this works for everyone as this is our first go of it.
The G-D SEPAC (Special Education Parent Advisory Council) would like to welcome MS parents of students with IEPs or 504s to our first coffee of the year. We are meeting next Tuesday, Sep. 17, at 9:30AM in the PTYC. Any questions, email Katie Leonard at kcleonard@gmail.com. Join us!
A teacher shared this instagram video with me and it really resonates with us who work with or have students who are middle school aged. This is about kindness and how our words have Power. If you have been a parent or guardian with me for my first three years here you know that I have focused some of my memos on the Power of Our Words and what we say matters. Please take a look.
