Family Memo

Hello Middle School families.  I hope you have a great weekend.

Grade 6 Advisories are running at Rock-Paper-Scissors tournament.  You should ask your 6th graders about it.  Lots of fun and team building.

The staff vs student basketball game was GREAT!  The students beat us 35-26

The Grade 8 Chuck a Duck fundraiser raised 525.00 for Project Mitten.  Thank you for your support.

EBikes, Last year we came to the conclusion that EBikes were not allowed on school grounds following a student falling and getting seriously injured.  With the nicer weather upon us our students are starting to come to school with Ebikes.  We will tell them that they have to leave them at home and would appreciate your partnership with this.

Square1Art, If your student was absent and not able to submit art to Square1 you can do so through this link. https://shop.square1art.com/Shop/upload?rkc=173414

Check out our District Website, Newsfeed.  Luke Callahan did a highlight from Ms. Cardillo’s Wellness class projects on Screen Addiction.  Nice job to our 7th and 8th graders.  Let’s hope they practice what they learn and research.

Middle School Counselor status, Samantha Klipper has joined our team to work with the 7th grade and the 8th grade alphabet A-F. sklipper@gdrsd.org ext 2148  Please reach out to Ms.Klipper with any concerns about your 7&8th grade students.

GDMS PTO Update!

PTO General Meeting

Join us on March 20 at 7p in the GDRMS North Library for our March General Meeting. We will review our spring event lineup as well as plans for the remainder of the year. It is a great time to discover more about how you can get involved, or ask questions!

Penny Wars

This PTO fundraiser to support teacher appreciation gifts/luncheon will embrace March Madness! The grades will compete in a one week long competition and two day championship! Penny Wars will occur during lunch periods the week of March 24 and we are looking for several parent volunteers to help make this a success, so please consider volunteering for an hour or two during this event. The grand prize can be an extra long recess on a good weather day or maybe lunch outside if we can make it work.

The Real Life Fair!

We are excited to offer this fun and interactive, evening event on April 10. All middle school students and their parents are welcome to register for this hands-on, experiential learning event that will foster financial awareness, real life problem solving, and practical life skills. Parents will be a critical component of the student's success in our game of life, so be ready to have some fun with it! Tickets are available at a discount when you register early, but will also be available at the door.

We are looking for volunteers to help bring this fair to life! No experience necessary!

Counseling Corner:

We are happy to introduce Mrs. Samatha Klipper as the long-term substitute who will step in while Ms. Ascione is on leave. Her contact information is 978-448-6155 x2148 or sklipper@gdrsd.org.

8th grade information: Please refer to the GDRMS counseling website for updates. The 8th grade students will participate in an assembly with the high school counselors on March 20th to learn about courses and scheduling. Please click here for GDRHS scheduling information.  Parents should be on the lookout for information from the high school about the 25/26 Presentation for Incoming Freshman Parents.

If your child has been accepted to another school and is planning on attending that school for 9th grade, please email Brenda Reed at breed@gdrsd.org, Cara Zwicker at czwicker@gdrsd.org or Leah Nessco at lnessco@gdrsd.org. Informing us now will help ensure that your child’s school records are sent to the correct school. If you do not inform us, school records will automatically be sent to GDRHS. Here is the GDRMS release of information that needs to be completed and returned to Mrs. Reed, Ms. Zwicker or Mrs. Nessco so we can send your student’s records elsewhere. Please reach out to us if you have further questions.

See above flyers for information regarding Freshman and Middle School cheerleading.

Reminders:

Nursing update, Last week  you should have received this letter from the nursing department.  If you missed it please see it here about physical examinations and immunizations.

Thank you, Nursing, Laura Gray and Nurse, Pam Fleming

A reminder Google Workspace for Education.  There is a new regulation that directly impacts our students’ access to Additional Google Services, including YouTube, Google Earth, Google Maps, Google Translate, and a handful of others. A form from tech was sent out to families “communication will be sent to all parents and guardians”  informing families that Groton-Dunstable Regional School District must obtain parental consent for students under 18 to access these services. This will go into effect on March 31st. Please click on the link and sign the permission form.  Thank you.

School Council

  • Our next School Council meeting will be March 24th  9, 2:45-3:45 in the south conference room.

A reminder about the bus….  The school can not give permission/or ok students riding another bus.  If you would like your child to ride another bus you must either call or email the bus company to see if that is ok.  Please know if you do not do this and your child gets on a different bus your child will be brought back to school and you will need to pick them up.  Thank you for your cooperation.
