Family memo

Hello Middle School families.  I hope you had a wonderful long weekend.  This is another short week with 2 - ½ day dismissals with parent conferences on Wednesday afternoon and Thursday evening.

What does Community look, feel and sound like?  Community is always choosing kindness.

New Information:

  • We will be doing the vision and hearing screenings this week. Monday and Tuesday 11/14 and 11/15.

  • Student behavior: The reason I add this is because the police department is getting complaints every ½ day that our students are not behaving the way we would want them to.  We have two half days of school this week.  Please remind your students to act responsibility when they are downtown.  Here are some reminders

    • Students should not be walking on the jersey barriers on their way off grounds.

    • Students should throw away their trash and act like community citizens when in the library, in a store or at the town field.

    • Students should only be crossing the street at the crosswalks.

We are asking that you have this conversation with your student if they are going downtown after school.

  • Fall and Winter assistance - If you are a family that could use some assistance during this upcoming season please see the Assistance letter.  All letters should go to your student’s school counselor.

  • How does the morning drop off feel?  By having families pull around the curve and dropping students off at the yellow poles mid way down the drive we are getting about 7-8 students out of cars at a time.  We have noticed that we are finishing up the line by about 8:06 rather than 8:08.  I hope everyone is understanding and feeling better about getting your students dropped off and then off to whatever you need to do for your day.

  • MSPTO - Our two new water filling stations have been delivered and maintenance will be putting them in within the next week.  Our PTO will be present at parent conferences if you are interested in getting involved.

  • Winter Sports- Registration is open for 7th/8th grade basketball.

Tryouts begin the Monday after Thanksgiving

Reminders:

  • Lunch, families, please communicate with your students around what you order them for lunch.

    • 5th grade families,  We are noticing that the 5th grade students are still taking a longer time getting their lunch.  If you could spend some time with your students reviewing their lunch number with them that would help the line move quicker.
