We are having our 3rd annual Ice Cream Social for our incoming 5th grade and any new students who wish to attend. This event will take place this coming Wednesday 8/23 at 2:30 in the South Cafe.

Nearly 40 Chromebook carts are being updated, cleaned, and new identifying stickers are added to all Chromebooks. This is a huge undertaking, and thanks to the GDRSD Technology & Digital Learning Team for their efforts in having every student and staff member begin the year with a great experience with technology! It will be important to keep this equipment in great shape this year!

How many tech team members does it take to change a wireless access point? Our tech team watches as Gary Babin replaces one of the 145 wireless access points across several Groton-Dunstable school buildings.

GDRSD Network Administrator Gary Babin is excited to deploy our new Extreme Wireless access points in the South and Noth buildings.

The Department of Technology & Digital Learning is working hard to prepare student carts and Chromebooks for the new year!

Today's state track meet has been canceled. It has been rescheduled to Sunday, June 11, at 3 p.m.

Day of Difference in grade 6 and at Florence Roche.
Our Day of Difference was students from our World of Difference program going to classrooms in the 5th and 6th grade to facilitate lessons about inclusivity, bias, and being an ally. Students from the high school World of Difference program joined some of our 7th and 8th grade classes to talk about the importance of understanding, valuing, and appreciating all members of our community. Students got to connect and learn with each other.

A message from Mrs. Boettcher, about her Art classes on Thursday.
"Without me saying much, each one of my classes entered the room, realized it was bright enough from the windows to read the agenda and make art.
While I was holding the flashlight in the hall to light the way, the students were setting up and getting their work and materials. Some of it was research and reading, not just making art. So impressed.
No tv with the slides. No chromebooks.
It was amazingly self-run. I was really proud of them."

Even though we had no power we still learned math.

In honor of the March Madness Basketball Tournament, the GDRMS 8th grade Science teachers are running a March Madness Science Topics Bracket, to determine which is the Best Science Topic So Far This Year!
Every Friday, students vote on which topics are “best”. They can vote based on which topics are their favorites, which topics they've learned the most about, or even which topics are the most relevant in their own lives! We've had a lot of great review conversations along the way, reminiscing about earlier units. For extra credit, some students are designing posters, slogans, or team uniforms for each of their predicted Final Four topics.
Early frontrunners include "Hour of Code", "Proteins", and "Chemical Reactions", but there's still several rounds of matchups yet to come!

Happy Friday, Today is an early release for our Middle School Students.
Enjoy your weekend.
Ms. Salvatore
