Our second graders are learning to build their reading stamina each day by reading for longer and longer periods of time. The students in Mrs. Rozzi's class recorded the number of reading minutes on a stamina chart and were able to see how many more minutes they were reading each day. They made a drum roll sound on their laps as we announce the number of minutes each day!

Students are happy, productive, and enjoying a few moments of quiet time in Mrs. Caulfield’s first grade classroom.

Mrs. D's students learned about real-life bridge designs. They were tasked with Paper Bridge Engineering. Students used their knowledge of forces to build a strong bridge that supported as many pennies as possible -- using only paper. One student got over 300 pennies!

Mrs. Keegan's third graders reading to their new Reading Buddies in Mrs. Vargeletis' class. They meet every other week and share books. 3rd graders were SO EXCITED they kept asking all day when is reading Buddies. They go to share their love of books and model reading strategies.

Karen Gartland, PreK-8 Mathematics Supervisor, came in to teach a math puzzle to the students in Mrs. Murphy's third grade class to help develop their spatial skills.

Mrs.Keegan's third graders are showing off their new writing binders for Writer's Workshop. These students decorated them with things they like for example: pictures of family, pets, motivational sayings, art work, professional game ticket stubs, etc. This gives them instant ideas to create personal narratives when they get stuck.

From the SU Library:
Many thanks to our PTO for sponsoring our 4th grade MCBA program again this year! We are so lucky, and we cannot wait to read these books. Which one do I read first???

Mrs. Keegan's third grade scientists working with partners to design a paper bridge that can hold the most weight! This is part of our Mystery Science Program with Forces and Motion. They created pillars out of paper to support the weight, folded triangles to keep it up, and accordion folds to equal out the weight. They loved this hands on task!
