Student Council Members visited each classroom this morning to talk to them about the upcoming donation drive. The Wish Project’s mission is to help families in need establish long-term residency by providing basic needs to provide critical immediate assistance to homeless families, and victims of fire or disaster; and to support the community.
Students in third grade got to experience hand-on-science from the PTO on Tuesday. The program was intended for students to learn about how animals and plants survive and thrive with habitats. In one of the experiments they got to learn how cactus plants survive in the desert without much water. They also learned how blubber can keep an animal warm in the freezing arctic. Lastly they got to use glue and a powdered glow in the dark substance to make slime. They actually made bioluminesce light just like jellyfish do down in the deep dark oceans.
Wishing GDRSD families a blessed Ramadan filled with peace, prosperity, and happiness!
Students explore concepts of force and motion while interacting with a variety of toys and engineering their toys that move in lots of different ways. Students play with how to make objects move and control that movement, and experiment with the effects of outside forces such as gravity and friction acting on that movement. #thescienceofforceandmotion

Good evening,
Due to the continued forecast for significant snowfall and deteriorating road conditions, GDRSD will be opening on a two hour delay tomorrow. However, given the lack of clear projections on snow fall and duration of the storm, staff should check for a possible change to cancellation in the morning.
Again, at this time we are going with a two hour delay for Monday, January 30th, however if the snowfall totals, storm timing, and road conditions worsen this may change. Stay safe, Laura
