This week Karen Gartland and Mrs. Rozzi taught a second-grade math lesson on learning to count from $10 to $1,000 using a variety of place-value math tools. They were asked to show how to count from $776 to $900, using place value math tools of their choice. The second graders came up with so many different strategies and were very excited to share their math thinking with a partner and the class!

Mrs. O’Hara’s 4th grade class and Mrs. Mulligan’s kindergarten class get together for some game time fun for Math Buddies! Not only are they teaching, learning and reinforcing math skills, but they are having a great time doing it!
Our third graders made their way to Plimoth (annual tradition!) where they had time to take their knowledge of what they had learned about colonial life into action. They visited Plimoth Rock, immersing themselves in indigenous life and what it was like to live in a colonial village.
Swallow Union classes K-4 read and talked about thankfulness and gratitude this week in Library, and then created a Tree of Gratitude and Thanksgiving to represent all they feel lucky to have.
First graders had a chance to explore the properties of sound ~ creating, seeing, hearing, and feeling waves and physical vibrations.
4th graders were engineers this week in Innovation Technology as they built and tested catapults to begin learning about potential and kinetic energy, and how our failures help us learn and problem solve.
2C mastering the art of silent communication in the 'Dots' game. Who knew finding your color-matched teammates could be this exciting and challenging, all without saying a word!
Writers in 2C came together in groups, sharing their stories. Each classmate listened closely, then shared how the story made them feel. We learned that words have power, and every writer has a special voice.
Fourth grade travelled virtually to Ashfall Fossil Beds in Nebraska today to learn more about the fossils found there! Thank you SU PTO!!
On Thursday, Miss Stacey from the Nashua River Watershed visited the kindergartners. During the presentation, they learned about different types of leaves and seeds we see in fall and winter, and how those seeds spread. After the presentation, the young scientists took a nature walk and recorded their observations by looking at and drawing the different leaves and seeds they found. It was a perfect day in New England for this seasonal presentation! A big thank you to the PTO for sponsoring this event!
Our PreK-8 Mathematics Supervisor Mrs. Gartland spends time with our Kindergartners as they learn to navigate IXL.
Beautiful day with our 4th-grade students hiking Mount Wachusett.

Our second graders are learning to practice focusing and reading/writing independently for extended periods of time without giving up, even when they're feeling tired. In 2R, they set a stamina goal (in minutes) together as a class and their class goal is to read and write independently for a few minutes longer each day. They created a stamina graph and can see how their stamina muscles are growing stronger and stronger!
Mrs. Moreau and Mrs. Jarvis met with each grade level to discuss what the expectations are for students during their school day. From the bus ride, hallways, and bathrooms to lunch and recess and classroom time, we want all students to understand they are important members of our school community and how they can positively contribute as a Ti-GRRR!
First graders in 1C investigated the relationship between the shape of different bird beaks and the foods they eat.
Reading Buddies!
Mrs. Keegan’s 3rd graders LOVE to read to Mrs. Mulligan's Kindergartners.
Kindergartners talked about things that are exactly the same or almost the same in math and showed off some of their fine motor skills by painting matching socks.
