In the Tech Innovation lab, students in 1S were presented with a STEM challenge inspired by the classic fairy tale, “Little Red Riding Hood.” The challenge was to help Little Red deliver her grandmother’s treats without going through the dangerous woods! The task required the first graders to use their creativity and ingenuity to come up with a solution for the problem at hand.

Last week we kicked off our 3-week gymnastics unit in PE. The students are excited that we have brought back our 4th grade 'assistant teachers' this year! These 4th graders volunteer to give up their recess and instruct the first half 2nd grade PE classes with the guidance of Mrs Pelletier. It's a great experience that promotes peer connections, leadership and public speaking skills in an entry level, fun atmosphere. Grateful to be able to bring this back and the awesome SU students.

Students in third grade participated in Discovery Museum's Earth Science Workshop where they learned about the three different types of rock (Igneous, Sedimentary, and Metamorphic) and how they are formed. This hands-on lesson had our 3rd graders learn how to grow crystals, how weathering and erosion differ, and create their own sediment tube.
